The Horace Mann PTA is a group of parent volunteers working together to make our school the best it can be for every student. We're the bridge between families, teachers, and staff — and our only agenda is helping our kids thrive.
Here's a snapshot of what we do:
Enrich learning by funding arts, STEM, special education, and other programs that go beyond the standard curriculum
Bring our community together through beloved events like the Welcome Back Event, Multicultural Festival, and Spring Carnival, Husky Hoedown, Chili Cook Off
Create opportunities for students to shine through performances, programs, and hands-on experiences
Grade-level enrichment experiences (like the butterfly pavilion, aquarium sea creatures visits, eco station animals, mad science)
Give families a voice in our school community through our monthly, open-to-all meetings
Everything we do is powered by parent volunteers and funded by the generosity of our families. When you show up, pitch in, or give what you can, you're helping create a school where every child feels supported and excited to learn.

PTA membership dues are $11 + $1 processing fee. Choose your membership and enter your name and email.
When you sign up, you can add your child to your profile as a student (non-member). It's free, quick, and worth doing. Adding your student helps the PTA:
Keep an accurate class and grade roster
Build our teacher directory automatically
Track fun classroom participation challenges (like which class has the most PTA families!)
Signing up before teachers are assigned? If you don't know your child's teacher yet, you can't add your student right now, but you can easily add them to your profile later. Just log back in once assignments come out, go to your account, and select "Add a Student" to enter their name, grade, and teacher.

Many opportunities are 30-60 minutes. It is flexible and entirely up to you and your schedule. Every bit helps.
There's no commitment too small, and no help that goes unappreciated. To get started, just email us at hmpta@bhusd.org and we’ll find the right fit for you!

All of our events are open to every Horace Mann family, and we'd love to see you there — no membership required. And if you'd like to volunteer, you don't need to be a member to jump in. Just reach out to us at hmpta@bhusd.org and we’ll help you find a way to get involved.
However, becoming a member of the PTA ($11 per member) gives you a vote and a voice to be heard at the meetings if and when you have any constructive feedback or suggestions to further support our children through the PTA. Becoming a member demonstrates for our children the importance of unity and teamwork, and the stronger our membership, the stronger our community voice is within the Beverly Hills community and beyond!

All Horace Mann PTA meetings are open to the public — every parent and caregiver is welcome, and we'd love to see you there. We meet monthly during the school year. You'll find our full meeting schedule on the Calendar page, along with the time and location for each meeting. No RSVP needed — just show up, listen in, and share your voice.

The ask of all schools in BHUSD is $550 per child, and we ask that every family donate try to donate this amount or as much as they are able to do, understanding that every family is different. Horace Mann is a public school, but the extras that make it feel special aren't necessarily covered by the school district's budget. The PTA is funded almost entirely by families like yours, so your donation is what allows us to offer a public school education with the feel of a private school experience. Every contribution directly shapes what our kids get to experience each day — and every dollar is carefully stewarded to make the greatest possible impact. Your support goes directly back to our students, teachers, and community. Contributions help fund:
Academic enrichment across every grade level, including arts, STEM, weekly music, art, and physical education classes, and special education programs that go beyond the standard curriculum
Community events that bring our families together — the Welcome Back to School event, Multicultural Festival, and Spring Carnival, Husky Hoedown, Chili Cook Off
Student performances that enrich learning and give kids room to shine
Together, our contributions enrich each child's education, empower our teachers, and strengthen the community we're all proud to be part of.

No family is expected to give beyond what they are able to or comfortable with. We simply ask that every family do what they can, within their means.
Your generous support is about far more than donations. Giving money is just one way to help our school. Your time and energy are every bit as valuable as any financial gift. You can pitch in by volunteering at events, joining a committee, spreading the word to other families, or simply showing up and being part of our community.
If you have questions about giving your time or your resources, and how to make it work for you, please reach out to hmpta@bhusd.org. There is a way for every family to support the PTA and our school while honoring your own family's needs at the same time.

Every gift to the Horace Mann PTA makes a real difference — and there are a couple of easy ways your generosity can stretch even further.
First, because the PTA is a nonprofit, your donation may be tax-deductible. It's worth holding onto your receipt and checking with your tax advisor come tax season.
Second — and this one is often overlooked — many employers match charitable donations, sometimes dollar-for-dollar. That means your gift could double (or more!) simply by filling out a quick form. Some companies also offer volunteer grants that donate funds when you give your time. It only takes a minute to check with your employer's HR or giving program, and it could make a big impact for our kids at no extra cost to you.
If you're not sure whether your company participates, just ask — you might be pleasantly surprised. And as always, thank you for supporting our school community however you can!

Assuming our budget goals are met, the PTA has two major fundraisers during the year: the Fall Annual Fund Drive (suggested amount is $550 per child) and the Spring Read-a-thon, an interactive activity for all children that promotes literacy and the importance of reading.
Throughout the year, there may be some additional donation requests that benefit your child's classroom and teachers directly:
Classroom fund. At the start of the year, your teacher may ask each parent for a classroom fund donation, which goes directly to your child's class. These are not PTA funds, though they may be held by the PTA in trust to directly benefit your child's class throughout the year.
Class activities and celebrations. Your room parent may reach out about optional contributions to support your child's specific class and teacher(s). These can include:
Teacher birthdays
Staff Appreciation Week
Teacher holiday gifts
End-of-year celebration and teacher gift
Are contributions required? No. All contributions are completely optional. Every family's participation looks different, and that's totally okay.
How much are contributions typically? Amounts vary depending on the activity or celebration, and your room parent will always share details upfront. Any amount listed is only a suggestion. We just ask that you contribute what you feel comfortable with.
